From its
beginning during the Civil War, the Union Cemetery Association of Waterford has always been
a voluntary organization of local resident members committed to providing a valuable service to the community
in a time of need. For nearly a century
and a half the cemetery has been beautifully maintained The Union Cemetery burial plots and grave sites are still available for sale in its historic Union Cemetery in Quaker Hill Ct.
In order for this level of care to continue,
it is essential that the Union Cemetery Association of Waterford in Quaker Hill Ct continue to receive community support so that it may
provide for the perpetual care and maintenance of the historic graves, burial sites and grounds.
Since the
purchase of 2-1/2 acres adjacent to the Union Cemetery in 1999, the Association
has worked to develop the new property.
To date, the land has been cleared, lawn has been planted, a new access
entrance from Lathrop Rd. and gravel roadways have been added, new plots have
been surveyed and laid out and some landscaping has been done. A beautiful new stone wall has been built
along Lathrop Road. A Cremation Garden
is in the planning stages along with additional burial plots.
